This can be a tricky time. As a foster, the child may have mild feelings of abandonment, yet this is a period of life when it’s natural and important they develop a normal sense of independence from family. School will engage them in the larger world. They’ll make friends. Begin forming values and a sense of right and wrong. New social skills will enable them to invent ways to deal with increasing pressures society places on them.
